Piney Grove Cemetery
Piney Grove Cemetery located on Canterbury Road in Atlanta's Buckhead neighborhood, is a historic African-American burial ground dating back to the 1800s. It contains over 300 graves, including those of formerly enslaved individuals, serving as a testament to the rich history of African-American communities in the area.
The Friends of Piney Grove desperately needed a new logo to go along with their ongoing efforts to preserve and restore this sacred site, ensuring that the stories and contributions of those interred are honored and remembered. The design needed to be both symbolic and timeless, resonating with visitors and the local community.
Solution:
I designed a logo featuring a dove holding a forget-me-not flower, symbolizing peace, remembrance, and enduring legacy. This design reflects the cemetery’s mission while creating a meaningful and recognizable visual identity. 2024.
Severin Guitars
Challenge: Create a logo for a handmade guitar business.
Customers: Guitar players who are interested in quality craftsmanship.
Solution: The owner came to the project with a clear vision: a design that was simple yet distinctive. Using their concept as a foundation, I created an icon featuring an “S” for Severin, framed by subtle curved lines above and below. The result is a mark that’s minimal enough to be carved into wood, yet recognizable enough to immediately identify the brand.
MooTea
Challenge: Rebrand a boba tea shop in Duluth, Ga.
Customers: Teens and Young Adults
(Gen-Z and Millennials)
Solution: The original logo didn't make much sense to me. So, I completely scrapped that idea and went back to the name of the company. I decided to illustrate a happy cow drinking some delicious almond milk tea with boba. The original logo had Chinese text on it, which is an element I wanted to keep. I changed to Chinese text to say "So Good!" and placed it underneath the cow. I used these colors so the boba shop would feel fun and youthful, attracting the intended audience. Fall 2022.
