Piney Grove Cemetery located on Canterbury Road in Atlanta's Buckhead neighborhood, is a historic African-American burial ground dating back to the 1800s. It contains over 300 graves, including those of formerly enslaved individuals, serving as a testament to the rich history of African-American communities in the area.
The Friends of Piney Grove desperately needed a new logo to go along with their ongoing efforts to preserve and restore this sacred site, ensuring that the stories and contributions of those interred are honored and remembered. The design needed to be both symbolic and timeless, resonating with visitors and the local community.
Audience:
The logo was created for families, visitors, and the community who seek a place of reflection and remembrance. It needed to convey a sense of comfort, legacy, and respect for those laid to rest.

Solution:
I designed a logo featuring a dove holding a forget-me-not flower, symbolizing peace, remembrance, and enduring legacy. The elegant yet simple design reflects the cemetery’s mission while creating a meaningful and recognizable visual identity.
